Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information A-Game / Steven Griffith (“we,” “us,” “our”) collects when you visit this website, why we collect it, who else can see it, and the choices you have. It applies to this website only, not to coaching services delivered offline or to any third-party site we link to.

The short version

• We collect what you type into our contact and newsletter forms, and basic analytics about how the site is used.
• Our analytics run on our own server. We do not use Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or retargeting tags.
• We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
• You can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email steven@stevengriffith.com.

Information you give us

Contact form

When you submit the contact form, we collect your name, email address, message, and your phone number if you choose to provide it (the phone field is optional). Along with your submission we record which button you clicked to open the form and the page you were on when you clicked it, so we know what you were reading when you got in touch, plus the date and time and the IP address the submission came from.

Each submission is stored in our website’s own database and emailed to us so we can reply. If you write personal details into the message field — about your athletic career, your health, your child, or anything else — that information is stored and emailed along with the rest of it. Please send only what you are comfortable sharing; a form is not a secure channel for sensitive information.

Newsletter signup

When you sign up for the newsletter we collect your name and email address, and record the date, time, and IP address of the signup. Signups are stored in our website’s database. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email we send or by emailing us at the address at the bottom of this policy.

Spam protection

Both forms include a hidden field that human visitors never see and automated bots tend to fill in. We use it only to discard automated submissions. We also briefly record the IP address of recent newsletter signups so the same address cannot flood the form. Neither mechanism profiles you or follows you around the web.

Information collected automatically

Analytics

We use AnalyticsWP, a privacy-oriented analytics tool that runs on our own server and stores its data in our own website database. Your browsing data is not sent to an outside analytics company, and it is not combined with data from other websites.

For each page view it records the page you viewed, the referring page or search engine that sent you, your browser and device type (from the user-agent string your browser sends), your IP address, the date and time, and a randomly generated session identifier that links the pages of a single visit together. If you are logged in to the website as an administrator or editor, activity can be associated with that account; ordinary visitors are not identified by name.

Server logs

Our hosting provider keeps standard web-server logs — IP address, requested URL, timestamp, response status, and user-agent — as a normal part of running and securing a website. We also keep periodic backups of the website, which include the form submissions and analytics data described above.

Cookies and local storage

We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. This site sets the following:

• Analytics session identifier — a first-party cookie and a matching entry in your browser’s local storage, holding the random session ID described above. It lets us count one visit as one visit instead of ten separate arrivals.
• Podcast player state — stored in your browser’s local storage so an episode you are part-way through resumes where you left off when you move to another page. It stays in your browser and is not transmitted to us.
• WordPress session cookies — set only if you log in to the website as an administrator or editor. Ordinary visitors never receive them.
• Third-party cookies from embedded content — set by YouTube, Spotify, Apple, and other providers whose players are embedded on our pages. See the next section.

You can clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings. Blocking them will not lock you out of the site; the podcast player will simply forget your place.

Embedded content and third-party services

Some pages include content served directly by other companies. When your browser loads that content, it contacts those companies’ servers, and they receive your IP address and can set their own cookies — whether or not you click play. Their handling of that data is governed by their privacy policies, not ours.

• YouTube (Google) — video embeds on video pages and in the site’s video pop-out player.
• Spotify and Apple — podcast episode players embedded on podcast pages.
• Our podcast host — episode audio played through the site’s audio bar is streamed from the service that hosts our podcast feed.
• Publisher websites — some press items are displayed in a frame that loads the original article from the publisher’s own site.
• Google Fonts — the site’s typefaces are requested from Google’s font service on page load.

We also rely on these services behind the scenes:

• Mailgun delivers the email our website sends, including contact-form notifications. Message contents pass through Mailgun’s systems in the course of delivery.
• Google Search Console reports on how this site appears in Google Search. To be clear about what it is and is not: it does not place a tracker on our pages or observe visitors while they browse. It shows us aggregated search statistics from Google’s side — which search terms surfaced our pages, how many times they appeared, and how many people clicked — with no information identifying individual searchers. Google’s own collection of data when you use Google Search is covered by Google’s privacy policy.
• Our hosting provider stores the website and its database, and can access them in the course of maintaining the service.

How we use your information

• To answer your enquiry and follow up about coaching.
• To send you the newsletter, if you asked for it.
• To understand which pages and resources people actually use, so we can improve the site.
• To keep the site working, secure, and free of spam.
• To meet legal obligations where they apply.

We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not make automated decisions about you that produce legal or similarly significant effects.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We disclose it only:

• to the service providers described above, for the sole purpose of running the site and its email;
• to people working with us who need it to respond to your enquiry;
• if required by law, or to protect our rights, safety, or property;
• to a successor in the event that the business is sold or reorganized.

How long we keep it

Contact-form submissions and newsletter signups are kept in our website database until they are no longer needed or until you ask us to delete them. Analytics records are kept in aggregate to track trends over time. Backups are retained on a rolling basis and are overwritten in the normal course of operation, which means a deletion request may take a short time to work through the backup cycle.

Security

The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to the administrative area is restricted to accounts that need it, and the site and its software are kept up to date. No website can promise perfect security, so please do not send information through the contact form that would cause you harm if it were exposed.

Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Know what personal information we have collected about you and what we do with it;
• Access a copy of that information, in a portable format;
• Correct information that is inaccurate;
• Delete information we hold about you;
• Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted advertising — we do none of these, so there is nothing to opt out of;
• Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or give you a lower quality of service because you made a privacy request.

To exercise any of these rights, email steven@stevengriffith.com with the request and the email address you used on the site. We will respond within the timeframe required by the law that applies to you, and we may need to ask a question or two to confirm the request genuinely comes from you. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorization. If we decline a request, you may ask us to reconsider by replying to our response.

Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We do not track visitors across other companies’ websites, so there is nothing for a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal to switch off. We honor those signals by default, in the sense that the behavior they are designed to stop does not happen here.

Children

This website is intended for adults. Much of our coaching work is with student athletes, and we recognize that some of them are minors — so we ask that a parent, guardian, or coach make the initial enquiry on behalf of anyone under 18 rather than the young person submitting the form themselves.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website. If you believe a child under 13 has submitted information to us, email steven@stevengriffith.com and we will delete it.

Links to other sites

This site links out to articles, podcast platforms, video pages, and other resources we do not control. Once you follow a link, this policy no longer applies, and we are not responsible for how those sites handle your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. The “last updated” date at the top of this page always reflects the current version. Material changes will be announced on this page; continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
